These homemade strawberry popsicles are made with creamy Greek yogurt, sweetened with maple syrup, and fresh fruit. They are versatile, so you can change up the fruit according to what is in season.

Whenever the weather heats up, we start looking for a cool treat, and nothing is better than making your own freshly made popsicle. You know what’s gone into your popsicle, unlike one you buy at the local grocery store. When I was a kid, there was just one shape of popsicle mold; now there are so many to choose from that make an easy release from the mold. everything from small little ones to larger full-size popsicles and everything in between.

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • You will only need three simple ingredients and 10 minutes to put it all together.
  • It’s the perfect summertime treat for kids and adults, and it’s a fun activity to do with kids. They can create their own flavors, and that’s always fun.
  • The recipe is customizable; you can use your favorite yogurt and your favorite fruits that are in season.

Ingredients need to make fresh fruit popsicles

  • Plain Greek yogurt I like to use full-fat yogurt for these popsicles because it is thicker, but you can use plain yogurt if that’s what you prefer. And there is nothing saying you have to use plain yogurt; if you have a favorite flavored yogurt, you can use that here too.
  • Maple syrup or honey This is what sweetens up the popsicles just enough; if you want to keep it low in sugar, you can omit the sweeteners here. But I really prefer a little bit of sweetness to balance out the tartness of Greek yogurt and sometimes some fruits.
  • Fresh Fruit You can use any kind of fruit you like, but I like to use a combination of blueberries and raspberries.

  • Pour the yogurt mixture evenly into 8 ice pop molds, add the popsicle sticks, and freeze until solid (5–6 hours).
  • When you are ready to eat, dip the bottoms of the molds in hot water for a few minutes so that the popsicles release and slide out easily.

Tips for Success

  • Fresh fruit You want to use fruit that is in season for the best flavor and results. Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and tropical fruits are especially delicious in the summertime and also seem to be in abundance.
  • Layer if you are using a variety of fruit and yogurt its always nice to layer the different fruits and yogurt it makes the popsicle look extra pretty with the layers when you remove it from the mold.
  • Popsicle mold This recipe uses a Popsicle mold, but if you don’t have one, you can still enjoy popsicles using a DIY mold using a muffin tin and filling each cup with a fruit and yogurt mixture. So that the Popsicle stick doesn’t fall over when you place it into the mixture, wrap the pan with foil, and then place the sticks through the center so that they stay nice and straight until frozen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Greek yogurt popsicles healthy?

Yes! These popsicles are naturally sweetened with maple syrup, or honey and are loaded with protein and probiotics thanks to Greek yogurt. They’re definitely a healthier dessert compared to many other frozen treats.

How long does it take to freeze popsicles?

It generally takes between 4 and 6 hours to freeze homemade popsicles. As hard as it is to have to wait, it really is best to wait the 6 hours overnight, which is ideal. I like to make them in the early morning, so by the hottest time of the day, when we want a cool treat, they are ready.

Can I make these dairy free?

Yes, just switch the Greek yogurt to a non-dairy version and it will turn out just the same.

How long are homemade popsicles good for?

Homemade popsicles are good for one month in the freezer. Seal them in an airtight container. They may become icy and not as soft if they are kept in the freezer for longer than a month.
